Caroline Profanter, born 1985 in Bolzano (I), works in the fields of electroacoustic and acousmatic music as a composer and performer, with a focus on imaginary soundscapes and sonic narratives. She is interested in sounds and noises taken from the context of everyday life, transformed digitally and used as pure material. Therefore she collects and classifies recorded sounds and relates them to instrumental sounds or generated sounds (from analog synthesizers and feedback-systems).
She studied Computer Music and Electronic Media at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and holds a Master’s degree in Acousmatic Composition at the Royal Conservatory of Mons in Belgium. Her works have been performed in concert in Europe and abroad (notably at: Espace du Son Brussels, The Acousmatic Project Vienna, Wien Modern, Heroines of Sound Berlin, Plage Sonore Le Havre (FR), SYNC Festival Yekaterinburg (RU), XI Bimesp – Sao Paolo (BR), Visiones Sonoras – Morelia (MEX), Festival für Zeitgenössische Musik Bolzano (I), Transart Festival Bolzano (I). Collaborates frequently with other artists, at the crossroad to installation, film and radio art. Lives and works in Brussels and is part of the artistic team of Q-O2.
kobaltblau – the live piece is based on the imagination of the colour cobalt blue, an intense pigment, overwhelming for the senses, that reveals something of the vastness of an ocean, but can be also harmful, and should be observed at a distance.
